Revealing the 1972 1/2 Pantera

Hey, you may have heard about Denwerks getting a Pantera. Well today was the day, we picked our our little Pantera (Panther), and brought her home, so she is safely tucked away. I have been a fan of these cars ever since I was a little kid. My uncle asked me one day if I wanted to see some neat cars. I was around 7 years old, and I was like sure, I was thing Hot Wheels, lol. He took me into a basement were there were a collection of cars, and right there before my eyes, was a 1971 Pantera, I never forgot that day, this was around 1977.

My friend Mal, bought this car in 1977, he had owned it for a little more then 40 years. In the last 20 years, he kept it polished, and would start it a couple times a year, and back it out of the garage, and let it run, and bring it back in. He would maintain it as he could, but never took it back out on the street again, though he kept current registration on it all these years.

It was like he was a kid again as we took it out side, and loaded it up, he said let me grab my camera, the same thing he did when he saw it the first time at the Lincoln dealership were he bought it. The car today only has 29,000 miles on it. When he started it up today, we let it idle a bit, and he is like listen to that exhaust note, with a big grin on his face.

As I (DENWERKS) grew older, I was still fascinated with these cars. Especially since I was a Ford guy. This will be the 3rd Pantera that I have had pass though my hands. The DeTomaso Pantera, was sold in the Lincoln/Ford dealers. The were a very special car Ghia designed and built in Italy.

It was the best of both worlds, Italian design, that you could service in your own garage. I have always been a fan of the 351C. This cars production date, makes it 1972 1/2, it has a numbers matching 351 Cobra Jet and gear box. They sold these cars from 1971-1975, with only around 5500 built. DeTomaso, continued to produce these cars in from 1976 to 1992, and those cars were sold sold in other parts of the world. All together were only 7000 Panteras every built since 1971-1992
